Swimming With the Fishes

Went SCUBA diving for the first time in my life with my wife who’s already certified. It was for our one year anniversary.

SCUBA CAIRNS
This is me 10m below the surface on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. My wife took this picture from the back of the boat as it was pulling away leaving me behind… Just kidding ;-) Although she did take the photo. There are many other photos where I look really awkward trying to look cool and collected underwater. We’ll keep those ones for a later post.

At first I thought my mild claustrophobia would kick in and I’d panic. However, as soon as we were under the water, and I realized how easy it was to breath I just relaxed and everything fell into place. It was one of the most amazing feelings I’ve had in my life. To be breathing and flying through the water like a fish (although a very clumsy fish) was incredible.

There is only one downside to all this. Having tried SCUBA for the first time in one of the most beautiful dive spots on the planet, is gonna make it very hard for any other sites to stack up.

Getting Things Done

Hi all! I know it’s been a while since I updated the blog so I apologize to my 3 or 4 loyal readers ;-) . I’ve been chipping away at my huge to-do list and I’ve reached a milestone. So much going on it’s hard to keep track at the moment.

There is a complete re-branding and design update to the blog, the portfolio and the photo archive where you can license photos and buy prints as well. The look of the site is more seamless now and the navigation and photo presentations have changed as well. It’s like a big Spring cleanup. You got the new sharing buttons below each post so go ahead and share ’til you drop. The side bar content has also changed around a bit as has the footer of the blog (scroll down). The Store link goes to a coming soon page but once it’s ready there will be photo books, special edition prints and other photo related products up for sale.

Now that this part is complete the next stage is processing and uploading all the backlog of images. Believe me there is so much to upload, just wanted to get the site right beforehand. This is going to be an ongoing thing for a while so I’ll keep you updated here and on the usual networks. Once all the backlog is uploaded, the new stuff is gonna hit the stands. I’ve got some projects I’m really excited about so you’ll just have to hang on while I get everything done. I’m even thinking of doing a “photo a day” project but still not sure about that one yet, maybe once I cross a few more items off the to-do list.

Last bit of news is that we (Trini and I) have a huge trip in the works as well. More details on that as it gets closer. All I can say at the moment is that it’s gonna be fantastic!

That’s it for the boring updates. I’ll be posting more now that things are better organized, so stay tuned… It’s good to be back.

Tom Groggin Station Time

It’s road trip time again! Easter is around the corner and that means 5 days to get out of town.

We’ve lucked out to be able to go back to the beautiful Tom Groggin Station in the Southern Highlands.

We were there last year and had a fantastic time, trout fishing, hunting, 4WDriving, and just taking in the beautiful mountain and farm scenery. Last time we tried to do so much that I didn’t really get a chance to do much photography, but this time around, I’m going with a bit of a plan hope to get in much more photo time than the last trip.

We’re also going to be staying in a different house on the property, the owner’s own house. which basically means we’re going 5 star this time. ;-)

Fall’s in the air and I’m liking it. For some reason Autumn is probably my favorite season.

Road Trip to Hawks Nest

Dust off the fishing equipment, charge the batteries and start packing the gear, it’s road trip time again!!! It really has been too long between trips.

This time around we’re off North again to Hawks Nest. We’ve already been to Nelson Bay and Hawks Nest is basically across the water from it. It’s going to be a few days, of relaxing, eating, drinking, relaxing, fishing, relaxing, exploring, photography and relaxing. Great friends, great food, nice house and 5 dogs… can’t wait! Stay tuned for updates and photos.
